LUIS CARDADOR

Producer/Journalist

I'm a London-based journalist who works as a producer and presenter for the Portuguese-language service of the BBC World Service radio.

I have interviewed senior political leaders and high-profile academics and journalists from within and without my coverage area - Portuguese-speaking Africa - and have published articles in the BBC World Service's World Agenda Magazine. Since joining the BBC's Portuguese for Africa service, I have worked as a producer, presenter, editor and newsreader, writing news reports, packages and other broadcast material on a daily basis, in one of the most exciting, fast-paced media environments in the world.

I have been employed with the BBC for nine years, where I have also worked as a chief sub-editor for BBC Monitoring, translating, editing and writing analysis pieces on world news and current affairs. During my time at BBC Monitoring I specialized in vernacular media from the European, Latin American and African regions, a job that also took me to Nairobi, Kenya, where I worked in the local BBCM bureau.

I have recently visited the Amazon on a duty trip to explore the present and future of this vast, yet fragile ecosystem. This work has received the 2008 AIB's Media Excellence Award for Best Creative Radio Feature.

Ballet and opera are two of my long-life passions and, in my spare time, I contribute to international dance publications, such as Danceviewtimes and Danstidningen.

Check out my whereabouts in my SKETCHES or twittering and thanks for visiting my site!

Get in touch! I'll try to reply to your e-mail a.s.a.p.
