'The Skeptical Environmentalist' ♫
In "The Skeptical Environmentalist", Bjørn Lomborg challenged widely held beliefs that the global environment is progressively getting worse. He criticized the way many environmental organizations use scientific data to influence decisions about resource allocation, shaking the environmental movement to the core in the process. Lomborg challenged the more alarmist accounts favoured by some, but the latest extreme weather events and their consequences have once again raised questions about his theories. I interviewed the controversial Danish professor in the aftermath of the Hurricane Katrina disaster in the USA and the eve of the Montreal Climate Change Summit to find out whether he had changed his views on the real state of the world.

The first Brazilian in space
Brazilian Lt Col Marcos Pontes became the first Portuguese-speaker to go into space, after a successful launch aboard a Russian Soyuz rocket from Baikonur, in Kazakhstan. For his nine'day sojourn at the International Space Station, Pontes took with him a Brazilian flag and a football shirt - to help, he said, his team in the World Cup! Before he left on his mission he talked about his adventure, while his relatives and friends applauded and cheered on the big day.
