Naide Gomes, a top-class Heptathlete ♫
Naide Gomes is a Portuguese heptathlete, born in Sao Tome e Principe and also a top-class competitor in the long-jump.
Gomes started competing under the flag of her birth-country, Sao Tome and Principe and represented it at the Sydney 2000 Olympics, though she has lived in Portugal since she was 11. She got the Portuguese citizenship in 2001, and she has since represented it on major international competitions.
She has recently won gold medals in the long jump at the 2006 European Athletics Championships and the 2007 European Athletics Indoor Championships, in which she raised the national record to 6.89m.
I interviewed Naide and her coach of many years, Abreu Matos for the weekly sports programme "4 Linhas".

Football in Bissau ♫
Mozambican-born Portuguese footballer (born in 1935), nick-named “the sacred monster” and considered to be one, if not the best, midfielder his country has ever had.
In 1990 he was voted 60th in the European Player of the Century election held by the IFFHS. Coluna captained the legendary “Magricos” team (with Eusebio, one of the greatest players of all times) in the games of the World Cup of 1966, were Portugal reached third place.
I interviewed Coluna as he prepared to hand-over the presidency of the Mozambican Football Federation to his successor.
In the second half of this 4 Linhas, I talked to Ahmed Ould, the president of the Association of Guine-Bissau Coaches about the football played in Bissau and about the invitation addressed to Luis Oliveira Goncalves, the Angolan national coach, to visit Guine-Bissau and share his experience as a World Cup participating nation.
