LUIS CARDADOR

Producer/Journalist

I'm a London-based journalist who works as a producer and presenter for the Portuguese-language service of the BBC World Service radio.

Check some of the programmes I have produced by clicking the menu on the left.

These pages highlight some of the work I've done for the BBC, including a series of programmes called "The Amazon Paradox", which I did in May of 2008. Focussing, among other issues, on whether the region can be developed economically without destroying it, the series won the Best Creative Radio Feature Award at the Association For International Broadcasting's International Media Excellence Awards that same year.

In June 2009 I spent two weeks in Guinea-Bissau covering presidential elections there and I ended the year in Copenhagen, at the COP15 Climate Conference, one of the biggest events ever of its kind.

These pages also document other duty trips to Africa, a few freelance titbits, a polemical blog I did for a while called Straight From The Shoulder, my Pyrenees blog, and a series of personal photo albums.

Ballet and opera are two of my long-life passions and, in my spare time, I have contributed to international dance publications. I also do analysis, subbing, copy-editing, translation and voice-over work on a freelance basis.

Thank you for visiting my site and don't forget to check BBC Para Africa for the latest world news.
